Our training will provide you with all you need to run a healthy, successful PAL® program! We have a variety of training that will ensure fidelity of curriculum implementation and uphold programmatic standards.
Whether you are implementing PAL® in the classroom, or as a club, you MUST complete your PAL® Certification Training.
This in-depth course designed by the Orange County Department of Education introduces elementary educators to the PAL® peer helping model.

This training is designed to follow the PAL® Teacher Manual and provides a hands-on opportunity to experience PAL® classroom activities.
Completion of this training results in certification. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are also available.
There is a one-day virtual training option, as well as a two-day in-person training option available. Training is limited to 25 participants.
Who Should Attend
If you are an elementary teacher or representative who is, or will be, directly responsible for the supervision of the PAL® program, you are required to attend this certification training. This training can also benefit program coordinators, administrators, counselors, and advisory board members.

This in-depth course provides secondary educators an opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to implement and maintain a PAL® peer helping program.

This training is designed to follow the PAL® Teacher Manual and provides a hands-on opportunity to experience PAL® classroom activities.
Participation results in certification of participants as required by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) guidelines and by PAL® curriculum fidelity standards. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are also available.
There is a one-day virtual training option, as well as a two-day in-person training option available. Training is limited to 25 participants.
Who Should Attend
If you are a secondary teacher or representative who is, or will be, directly responsible for the supervision of the PAL® program, you are required to attend this certification training. This training can also benefit program coordinators, administrators, counselors, and advisory board members.
As a certified PAL® teacher, you are required to renew your PAL® Certification Training every three (3) years. This renewal training ensures you are receiving regular training and support essential for the quality implementation and successful outcomes of your PAL® program.
Additionally, this is one way in which we verify adherence to how the curriculum was designed to be implemented while maintaining fidelity, as required by TEA, and remain a TEA approved course.

Please bring your 3rd Edition, or newer, PAL® Teacher Manual. This training is designed to follow the manual and provides a hands-on opportunity to experience PAL® classroom activities. Should there be any updates to the curriculum, they will be addressed at this time.
There is a one-day virtual training option, as well as a two-day in-person training option available. Training is limited to 25 participants.
Who Should Attend
If you are a certified PAL® teacher, you are required to take this training every three (3) years.

There is a one-day virtual training option, as well as a one-day in-person training option available. Please bring your existing PAL® Teacher Manual. Training is limited to 25 participants.
Who Should Attend
Any PAL® teacher who is directly responsible for the supervision of the PAL® peer helping program and looking to enhance their existing program.
Student training is an important tool used to support PAL® lesson plans and launch your program into the first six-weeks. Students will learn to build team cohesion even as they develop a greater sense of ownership and responsibility. Training is experiential in nature with many hands-on activities that motivate, inspire, and fire students up about being a PAL®.
This training is designed to supplement the training you provide as their PAL® teacher.
Based upon individual school or organizational needs, training focuses on any, or all, of the training components developed in the PAL® Teacher Manual:
For students who receive this training at the beginning of the year, it helps to introduce them to the PAL® curriculum, a general understanding of the role of peer helper, and exercises and activities that enhance basic peer assistance skills. Training toward the middle and end of the school year are best suited to cover questions or concerns students raise about their work in the field.

Who Should Attend
All PAL® students.
Because high school students are eligible to receive up to two (2) years of elective credit toward graduation for PAL®, many students begin their senior year as a second-year PAL®. This training is for them.

There are upcoming opportunities to get trained to become a Trainer of Trainers (TOT) in PAL® for currently certified PAL® Teachers!
One benefit to becoming a Trainer of Trainers in the PAL® curriculum is that you can join our network of certified TOTs and train incoming teachers!
This certification process applies to adults only and authorizes them to conduct officially recognized PAL® Certification Training on behalf of Workers Assistance Program, Inc. (WAP).
Only PAL® Peer Assistance & Leadership staff and those certified through this process are authorized to use the official PAL® Teacher Manual and other PAL® training materials.
Eligibility Criteria
Three (3) years of experience as a PAL® program teacher and/or trainer; OR
Four (4) years of experience as a teacher and/or trainer of another school-based peer helping program; OR
Two (2) years of experience as a PAL® Training Specialist or equivalent in peer field.
The prospective PAL® Adjunct Teacher Trainer must complete the following in no more than a two-year period:

Upon completing the above steps, receiving a final approval and endorsement from PAL® Peer Assistance & Leadership staff, and signing the WAP Contractor Agreement, the prospective PAL® Adjunct Adult Trainer will be issued a certificate by PAL® Peer Assistance & Leadership, recognizing as a Certified PAL® Adjunct Adult Trainer.
The Certified PAL® Adjunct Teacher Trainer will be authorized to conduct official PAL® Initial Teacher Training:
Renewal of Certification
Certification is valid for a period of three (3) years from the date of issue. To qualify for renewal, the PAL® Adjunct Teacher Trainer must conduct at least four (4) WAP-sanctioned PAL® Certification Trainings in two (2) years. In addition, they must receive a recommendation for continuation of certification from PAL®.
